Let us begin this blog by first creating an FTP Account in cPanel.

Step::1 Login to your cPanel account

Step::2 Go to Files section, Click on FTP Accounts

Step::3 In the Add FTP Account section, fill in the fields as needed Log in:

FTP Username like “newuser” (without the quotes and spaces)

Password: (Enter new FTP Password or generate a new password by clicking on the “Password Generator” button)

Directory: If you would like to allow access to the entire /public_html folder, enter “public_html” or modify folder path to a unique path like “public_html/newuser”

Step::4 Click on Create FTP Account (Note down the FTP Credentials)

Hence you have successfully created FTP account in cPanel and now it’s time to know how to log into FTP account created via cPanel in WinSCP.

Step::5 Start WinSCP. Login Dialog will appear.

Step::6 Select your File protocol and choose FTP

Step::7 Enter your hostname to Host name field or else enter your domain name, username to User name and password to Password (Use the same username and password which you used to create FTP account in cPanel)

Step::8 You may want to save your session details to a site so you do not need to type them in every time you want to connect. Press Save button and type site name.

Step::9 Press Login to connect and done!!
